Hello, I'm Laura Allen. I'm part writer, part producer, part designer, and whole-hearted lover of the natural sciences (and sometimes, the unnatural ones. . .such as those in this red book I'm reading). I work at the American Museum of Natural History, where I write about dioramas, develop data visualizations, and root around in the library stacks.

At one time I took a designy detour from science writing and acquired a degree in fashion design from F.I.T. I then worked in the fashion industry for several years, including the design rooms of Polo Ralph Lauren and Morgane Le Fay. You can see some of the styling and costume projects I've been involved with since then.
